What is Community Choices for sustainable living (CCSL)?

The CCSL project aims to inspire and enable local communities to choose more sustainable lifestyles by;

Promoting real life examples of sustainable living, partly though visits to case studies.
Providing specific local information about the practicalities of sustainable living
Developing local Action Groups and Consumer Clubs covering the broad themes of: Energy, Food, Homes, and Travel.
Recruiting and supporting volunteers to act as Community Champions, who will be the focal point for the local Action Groups.

CCSL is a joint project, with partners in Devon, Dorset (Agenda 21), and Somerset. It is funded by the Environmental Action Fund from DEFRA.

What topics does the project cover?

Some examples of possible topics, within the four broad themes, are:

Energy - Energy efficiency (in home and transport); renewable energy (both home and community renewables). Green electricity.
Food - Grow your own; local food purchasing; organic gardening; allotments; composting (both home and community).
Homes - Heating and insulation; green electricity supply; sustainable building; decorating and D.I.Y; recycling; water use and grey water recycling.
Travel - Cycling; car share clubs; local public transport; biofuels; sustainable transport.
