The conumdrum of living with environmental limits and maintaining economic growth has been a sticking point ever since somebody uttered the words sustainable and development in the same sentance. Commisionned by the Multi Area Agreement, the report has been signed off by Leaders and Chief Executives of Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset as the driver for the 3 sub-regions economies. (attached)

SDC's "Redefining Prosperity" project has looked into the connections and conflicts between sustainability, growth, and wellbeing. As part of a two year programme of work the SDC commissioned thinkpieces, organised seminars, and invited feedback. This project has now resulted in a major report: 'Prosperity without Growth?: the transition to a sustainable economy' by Professor Tim Jackson, SDC’s Economics Commissioner.
